TSSD #06: How to Practice Mindful Eating in Your 30s and 40s
Oct 29, 2022Read time: 2 minutes
Are you a woman in your 30s or 40s who wants to make healthier food choices to lose weight? You're not alone! Many women at these stages of life face unique challenges when it comes to achieving their health and weight loss goals.
It can be difficult to stay motivated when you're faced with new responsibilities, such as a career, family, and even trying to fit in time for yourself. But, with a few simple tips, you can make healthier food choices that will help you feel your best.
First, let's talk about emotional eating. We understand that food can be comforting when you're facing stress, but too much comfort food can have negative impacts on your health. To help curb emotional eating, be mindful of your food triggers and create alternative coping mechanisms that don't involve reaching for unhealthy snacks.
Next, try to avoid consuming too much fast food. Although it may be convenient in a pinch, fast food is not the healthiest option. If cooking meals at home is something that's overwhelming, consider meal prepping the night before. This will make healthy meals much easier to access during the day.
Diet culture can be incredibly pervasive, especially if you follow influencers or certain diets on social media. But it's important to remember that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to health and wellness. Re-evaluate what diets you've been following and focus on nourishing your body with wholesome, natural foods instead of restrictive diets.
Finally, skipping breakfast can completely disrupt your daily nutrition. When you wake up in the morning, take time for yourself and start the day off right with a healthy, balanced breakfast that will leave you energized and fueled for the day ahead.
Making healthier food choices doesn't have to be a challenge. By being mindful of emotional eating triggers, limiting fast food consumption, being aware of diet culture, and not skipping breakfast, you'll be well on your way to achieving your health and weight loss goals.
